Leaders Gather To Hear About Work Taking Place Across Cookeville-Putnam County
(UCBJ) – Cookeville City Council members joined community and regional leaders on Wednesday for the Cookeville-Putnam County Chamber of Commerce (Chamber) Signature Luncheon: State of Local Government. The luncheon was an opportunity for leaders to connect.
“The luncheon provided a great opportunity for local leaders to come together, connect and hear about the work taking place across our area. Thank you to the Cookeville-Putnam County Chamber of Commerce for hosting and to Ascend Federal Credit Union for sponsoring today’s event,” according to the City of Cookeville.
The room was full, and the atmosphere was positive, with reason to feel good about the region’s trajectory, according to the Chamber. According to Cookeville Mayor Chad Gilbert, that trajectory is up, and revenue success comes from sales tax growth.
“Local sales tax is the engine for the success of revenue for the general fund of the City of Cookeville. The gross collections were $52,407,913 last year,” according to Gilbert.

“It was a great afternoon of encouraging updates, engaged community members, and leaders who clearly care about this community and the future of our region. Creating spaces where those things come together is one of the best parts of what we do,” according to the Chamber.

Amy New
Amy New, President and CEO of the Chamber, told guests Putnam County is one of the best places to live in Tennessee. Why? Because of the community’s leadership.
“Our elected officials make a tremendous impact on our way of life in Putnam county and we are so grateful that each leader serves this community with respect and appreciation,” said New.
