Numbers down from a record setting 2022 July

Putnam County – July construction numbers are continuing at a strong pace according to information released by Putnam County Mayor Randy Porter. The month was still lower than this time last year, but “July was a record month,” according to Porter.

July 2023 saw 36 permits worth $8.4 million worth of construction and 23 of those were for new single-family residential homes. That is in comparison to the same month in 2022 when 41 permits were issued worth $9.9 million with 28 single family dwellings.

“Average price of the new homes permitted in July was $339,000 compared to July 2022 of $355,000, so down slightly,” said Porter. “Looking at the data on a calendar year basis, if 2023 continues at its same pace for the rest of the year, we could get close to last year’s record. Only time will tell.”
