COOKEVILLE – J&S Construction Company Inc. was recently awarded nine separate task orders, worth more than $2.9 million, by the Tennessee National Guard as part of a Tennessee Multiple Award Task Order Contract (MATOC) for various sites across the state, as well as one site in Catoosa, Ga.
Four of the task orders will be completed at Berry Field Air National Guard Base, located near the Nashville International Airport. Work at this site includes replacing 1,738 linear feet of existing storm and sewer pipe, as well as manholes, junction boxes, curb inlets and curb for the Tennessee Air National Guard.
Renovations will also be made to TNANG Building 812 for Base Supply Administration. The facility currently measures 5,141 square feet and includes administration space, high bay shop areas and a wash bay. The entire facility will be renovated to function as administrative work areas and will include space for the following functions: compliance, fuels, material management plans, vehicle management and commander support.
The third and fourth task orders at Berry Field are for the Tennessee Army National Guard and work includes renovations of existing rooms into caged supply rooms in TNARNG Building 721 and the installation of 20 helicopter tie-down stations, featuring six anchors each, in front of TNARNG Building 757.
J&S Construction will also complete site work, pavement repairs and replace the storm drainage structure with pre-engineered and other specialized structures at TNARNG’s Smyrna Volunteer Training Site (VTS), located near the Smyrna/Rutherford County Airport Authority.
Two task orders will be completed for the TNANG 164th Airlift Wing, located next to the Memphis International Airport. Work at this site includes: realignment of existing fall protection in the main, fuel cell and corrosion control hangars to secure the wing walk area along the C-17 aircraft and ensure fall protection meets or exceeds current prescribed safety standards.
Repair work will also be completed on a dike containment valve located at the 164th Airlift Wing’s fuel containment area. That containment valve will be replaced to ensure no contaminants are released from the area in the event of a fuel spill or leak. The fuel containment area is located in a strict, secure area that supports one of the strategic air wings of the U.S. Air Force.
J&S Construction will also perform work on two task orders for the TNARNG Catoosa Volunteer Training Site (VTS), located in Catoosa, Ga. Work at this site includes: the installation of more than 2,000 linear feet of new 6’ chain link fencing, featuring three strands of barbed wire. All materials will receive a hot-dip galvanized coating to protect against corrosion; including: fence fabric, barbed wire, posts, bracket arms and associated hardware. This project also includes replacement of gate controls.
The second task order at this site includes the demolition of approximately 1,400 linear feet of existing three- foot-wide concrete sidewalk and installation of nearly 1,700 linear feet of a five-foot-wide sidewalk throughout the entire facility.
