Holiday spotlight on local non-profits

UPPER CUMBERLAND – Upper Cumberland charities and non-profits have suffered this year with hundreds of fundraisers and special events cancelled due to COVID-19 as well as outreach and educational campaigns impacted.

During this holiday season when all of us want to do something for our neighbors, the stations of Stonecom will launch “The 12 Ways of Christmas: 12 Ways You Can Give Hope” Monday.

This initiative, presented by Buck’s Plumbing, will run throughout December on Lite Rock 95.9, 106-9 Kicks Country, Rock 93-7 and News Talk 94.1/AM 1600 spotlighting 12 charities and the way you can help.

“Every non-profit has been impacted, so we asked the groups across the Upper

Cumberland to share their stories,” Stonecom Community Outreach Coordinator Maddy Grider said. “We wanted to find the organizations that could really use the help of our listeners and readers.”

One non-profit organization will be featured every 48 hours with a focus on how neighbors can help. The information will also be spotlighted on each station’s website and on social media.

“You obviously think money and some organizations need that, but there are also things you have around your home that you can donate,” Grider said. “Some of these group need volunteers to help, a handy man to do some work, or teens to help build awareness. It’s not just money. That’s what we want people to hear.”

“And we know some people just don’t have the money to give as they might normally,” Grider added. “But could you give your time? Could you collect items at your church? Could your family go around the neighborhood and collect items? Small things that will be big to these groups.”

Listeners can tune-in to hear the stories of the organization and the ways they can help. Stonecom is proud to partner with Buck’s Plumbing to make the “12 Ways” possible throughout the holiday season.

“Each of the 12 organizations is just a representative of so many non-profits that can use your help,” Grider said.
