COOKEVILLE – It’s back. Dust off that lederhosen or dirndl and kick off the beginning of Fall with the sights, sounds and aromas of authentic German culture. Heavenly Host Lutheran Church will present the 12th annual Oktoberfest celebration Saturday, Sept. 25 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at 777 S. Willow Ave.
“We are excited to host Oktoberfest and bring great German food and culture to the Cookeville community,” said Donnie Baumgart, Oktoberfest Coordinator. “Each year since its inception, the event has grown in popularity. It’s a wonderful way to spend an afternoon while supporting the Heavenly Host school and its education programs.”
The afternoon will feature authentic German Bavarian favorites including bratwursts, homemade potato salad, sauerkraut and strudel for dessert. Hot dogs are also included, and pretzels will be available for $2.
While enjoying a traditional German meal, the sounds of German waltzes, polkas and classic songs will fill the air. Oktoberfest will also provide entertaining activities such as dancing, karaoke, a silent auction and bake sale.
Meal tickets are $12 for adults and $6 for children ages 4 to 10. Kids under the age of 4 are free. Tickets can be purchased in advance at the church or at the door on the day of the event. All proceeds will benefit Heavenly Host Lutheran School.
