Father-Daughter Date Night cancelled for 2021, virtual activities planned

COOKEVILLE – The Cookeville Leisure Services annual Father-Daughter Date Night has been restructured for 2021.

“Father-Daughter Date Night has been a beloved community tradition for over 30 years,” Cara Sheets, Leisure Services recreation superintendent, said. “But after much deliberation and prayerful consideration, we have decided it is in the best interest and safety of our fathers, daughters, staff and all of those involved to cancel the 2021 in-person event.”

A two-week virtual event is being planned beginning Feb. 14 to offer alternative ways fathers and daughters can celebrate their time together.

“Although we cannot gather together as in previous years, we encourage fathers and daughters to continue this treasured tradition,” Sheets said. “We will have many opportunities for sharing memories, pictures, ideas for new date nights and more.”

Details will be posted on the Cookeville Leisure Services Department’s social media pages.

Father-Daughter Date Night normally takes place four nights in February at the Leslie Town Centre. It is a time for dads and daughters to dress up, have dinner, dance, take photos and make memories. This year would have been the 34th annual event.

“Although we are making this announcement with a heavy heart, we are excited about remembering this time of year and continuing to keep it as an important feature for our community,” Sheets said. “We look forward to seeing everyone in February 2022.”
