Dogapalooza moving to new Cane Creek Dog Park

COOKEVILLE – Dogapalooza is back with a new location, new season and new time.

The Cookeville Leisure Services event, last held at Dogwood Park in the spring of 2019, is moving to Cane Creek Park on Sept. 25 from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. to make use of the city’s much-anticipated, soon-to-open public dog park.

“The new dog park is something the community has wanted for a very long time,” Cara Sheets, Leisure Services recreation superintendent, said. “Bringing Dogapalooza to the dog park was a natural decision.”

The 11th Dogapalooza will look different from previous years, but the goal of the free event remains the same – to offer a day of fun for dogs and the people who love them.

“We hope the change of season for this beloved event will result in a beautiful fall day for dogs and their owners to celebrate their time together,” Sally Herren, Leisure Services recreation programmer, said. “Also, changing the start time to earlier in the day will give people the option to attend other events that may take place on the same date.”

Cane Creek Dog Park is located within Cane Creek Park, across the road from Cane Creek Recreation Center at 180 CC Camp Road.

During Dogapalooza, pet-related booths will line the sidewalk that leads to a newly built fenced-in area where dogs are welcome to run leash-free and enjoy event attractions with their owners.

“In addition to the new location, we are excited about offering new and more interactive activities and stations,” Sheets said. “Be on the lookout for a pet parade, food options, a selfie station and much more.”

Businesses wishing to set up a booth at Dogapalooza should contact Cookeville Leisure Services as soon as possible at 931-526-7393. The fee is $25. Nonprofit organizations may participate for free.

In keeping with the theme of the event, all booths must be dog-related. Promotional items, coupons, business cards and other pet-related information may be distributed.

“With the participation of organizations and businesses, this updated event will continue to be a huge success,” Sheets said.

“We are so excited to bring Dogapalooza to our community once again. It’s a great time to get out of the house and spend some quality time with your dog.”
