Cumberland County – The Upper Cumberland Development District (UCDD) recently named Cumberland County the community of the year.

“This award to Cumberland County is the culmination of teamwork across our county and city governments with the support of our state and federal legislators,” said Cumberland County Mayor Allen Foster in a release. “I’m proud to be the County Mayor in a community that works together to enhance opportunities for growth and sustained success while keeping the things that make it our hometown.”

The Upper Cumberland is made up of 14 counties. Every year, the UCDD honors one of those 14 counties with the award. According to the UCDD, Cumberland County was chosen because of its artistic excellence, outdoor adventure and strong business base. Being centrally located along I-40, Cumberland County is a hub for industry, logistics and movement of goods.

“The Upper Cumberland is made up of 14 outstanding counties that provide the best places in the state, and arguably in the United States, to live and work,” said Foster.
