Cookeville Leisure Services job fair set for Feb. 16

COOKEVILLE — The city of Cookeville’s “fun department” is hiring.

Cookeville Leisure Services is holding a job fair Feb. 16 from 4-6 p.m. at Cane Creek Recreation Center as a convenient opportunity for job seekers to meet staff members

and apply for numerous part-time and seasonal positions, including day camp assistants, parks groundskeepers, Cane Creek Gymnasium staff, Cane Creek Park hosts and Cane Creek SportsPlex and Dogwood Park concessions staff.

“We hire nearly 40 seasonal staff for the spring and summer season, and that process begins now,” Rick Woods, Leisure Services Director, said. “Often, we have students contact us about jobs near the end of the school year, and that is too late. We need applicants now.”

Woods said the department is seeking personable, friendly individuals who are dependable and enthusiastic about providing quality programs, events and facilities for the community.

“We are all about providing a great quality of life in Cookeville,” he said. “Citizens use our services to relax, to have fun, to be entertained, to learn, to exercise — all in a safe, friendly, encouraging environment that is created and maintained by our staff members.”

Woods noted that several of Leisure Services’ full-time staff, including supervisors, started out as temporary, seasonal employees.

“They loved working here and made a career with Cookeville Leisure Services,” he said.

Cane Creek Recreation Center is located at 180 CC Camp Road. For more information about the job fair, call 931-520-4386.
