Change exempts the Putnam County Convention Center, the Fairgrounds and indoor events at the Leslie Towne Center

Thursday evening, the Cookeville City Council unanimously approved the first reading of an ordinance amending the city’s alcohol regulations. The change exempts the Putnam County Convention Center, the Fairgrounds and indoor events at the Leslie Towne Center from requiring a Special Events Alcoholic Beverage Permit.

“The amendment would specify that a special event alcohol permit would not be required for events at the Putnam County Convention Center and Fairgrounds,” according to City Manager James Mills. “And indoors at the Leslie Towne Center.”

The amendment streamlines the process for local venues hosting gatherings and is designed to make it easier for organizers to host events while maintaining oversight and safety standards across the city, according to officials.
