⊕ Cookeville city manager search yields 145 applicants

COOKEVILLE – A total of 145 candidates have applied to be Cookeville’s next city manager.

The deadline for resumes was Friday. The City of Cookeville is looking to replace long-term City Manager Jim Shipley, who celebrated his retirement last week. Mike Davidson, finance director, is fulfilling Shipley’s duties in the interim; he did not formally apply for the position.

But other notable local contenders include former Putnam County Executive Kim Blaylock, Cookeville’s J. Mark Hutchins and Algood City Administrator Keith Morrison, among others.

The Municipal Technical Advisory Service-provided list of applicants did not provide additional specifics such as current city and job title. Cookeville Mayor Ricky Shelton said MTAS will score the above candidates and narrow the list down to roughly 10 finalists. The city council will meet with MTAS toward the end of the month to discuss.
