PUTNAM COUNTY – The naming selection committee for the new Putnam County School System Southwest K-8 school is seeking community feedback on the name, mascot and school colors through a survey and a public meeting that will be held Thursday, Jan. 27 at 5:30 p.m. at Avery Trace Middle School’s auditorium.
The survey is currently open and will close Friday, Jan. 14. The survey can be found on the Putnam County School System’s website www.pcsstn.com as well as on PCSS Facebook and Twitter pages.
“This is an exciting time. The committee had its first meeting and discussed the timeline and how we would receive community input. A survey will launch on Jan. 6 and close Jan. 14 allowing the community to share their thoughts and ideas on the school’s name, mascot and colors. Park View students will also be surveyed and alongside their families,” said Corby King, Director of Schools. “A public meeting will be held on January 27 at 5:30 p.m. at Avery Trace Middle School to also hear from the community.”
The new K-8 school will be located off Lee Seminary Road, the southern part of Putnam County, with a projected open date of fall 2024. The current Park View Elementary school will move to this new location. This will be a true K-8 school, which means one administration for both the elementary and middle school as well as shared common spaces such as the gym, cafeteria and auditorium.
