Clouse named Cookeville’s first Chief Building Official

COOKEVILLE – Cookeville Community Development Department Director Jon Ward today announced David Clouse has been named the department’s first Chief Building Official, effective immediately. 

Clouse has been with the city since October 2006, beginning his career as a maintenance worker, then being promoted to a Building Inspector and most recently serving in the role of Plans Examiner.

Director Ward said, “With over 16 years’ experience with the city, and over 11 years with the Codes Department, David has extensive knowledge in construction and holds certifications in building inspection, fire inspection and plans review. David has been involved in many successful projects within the city and will do an excellent job leading the Codes Division. I have the upmost confidence David will perform the duties of Chief Building Official diligently and continue to provide excellent customer service to our citizens, businesses and the construction community.”

“I am honored to be given the opportunity to lead the Codes Division into the future,” Clouse said. 

Clouse is a native of Cookeville. He and his wife, Veronica, have four children, Lewey (Heather), Susanna, Grace (Evan) and Adaline. 

The recently created Community Development Department combined the Departments of Planning, Codes and Economic Development to create a more efficient and effective department.
