Volunteers work with juvenile courts to advocate for the best interests of abused and neglected children

On Oct. 9 at 11 a.m. CASA of the Tennessee Valley will celebrate the first anniversary of its six-county service expansion. The Cookeville–Putnam County Chamber of Commerce will be on hand.

“In October, we mark the milestone of growing from serving 3 counties to 6: Roane, Loudon, Morgan, Cumberland, Putnam and Overton,” according to a release.

CASA of the Tennessee Valley trains and supports citizen volunteers, known as Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA). Those volunteers “work with juvenile courts to advocate for the best interests of abused and neglected children” and serve as “the child’s voice in court, ensuring safety and stability for children in need.”
