Carl Haney chosen to head Cookeville Electric Department

COOKEVILLE – City manager Mike Davidson recently announced that Carl Haney will be the next director for the Cookeville Electric Department.  Director Tony Peek recently announced that he will retire as of Feb. 1, 2019 after 44 years with the city of Cookeville. Haney began his career with CED in 1994 and has been the operations superintendent for the past nine years.

In making the announcement, Davidson said “replacing a department head is a difficult process. Carl Haney has extensive knowledge and experience with the Cookeville electric system and possesses the skills and abilities to make a smooth transition.  Mr. Haney has proven his capability to serve and lead the department and will handle the duties well.”

Haney stated that he is humbled and honored to serve as the new director.

“I have learned a great deal from Tony Peek over the years and I look forward to serving our employees and citizens,” said Haney.

Carl and his wife, Jenny, have two children – Owen and Rilee.
