Cane Creek Gymnasium activities, hours expanding March 1

COOKEVILLE – Cane Creek Gymnasium is expanding activities and hours effective March 1.

Those activities will include basketball and soccer, which were previously excluded from the gymnasium schedule due to the pandemic. Non-contact activities such as pickleball, volleyball, cornhole, spikeball and walking will continue. The gymnasium will be open Monday through Saturday, 8 a.m.-9 p.m., and Sunday, 1-6 p.m. Admission is $1.

“We’ve had a number of requests, and we’re pleased to be able to return to full activities,” Rick Woods, Cookeville Leisure Services director, said. “We look forward to people participating.”

The following guidelines and restrictions are in place:

  • Attendance is limited to no more than 50 participants at one time.
  • Masks are required upon entry and while not participating in an activity.
  • Participants and observers will be screened with temperature checks and asked basic health questions. (Anyone with COVID-19 symptoms or a temperature of 100.4 or higher will be asked to leave.)
  • Observers and spectators will maintain physical distancing.

Gymnasium rentals for athletic-themed activities are resuming as well.

“We’re just happy to be offering more activities for the community to enjoy,” Seth Bruton, Leisure Services athletic superintendent, said.
