Ribbon Cutting Set For Oct. 8 at Tennessee Tech As Orchestra Returns To Its Founding Home

(UCBJ) – The Bryan Symphony Orchestra (BSO) is returning home this October. It will host the 30-minute event on Oct. 8 at 1 p.m. at Tennessee Tech University’s Derryberry Hall on William L. Jones Drive in Cookeville.

The Cookeville-Putnam County Chamber says the return represents more than a venue change.

“It is a homecoming. Derryberry Hall is where the orchestra was founded in 1963, and Joan Derryberry herself once performed on this very stage. As the BSO opens its 63rd season, they are proud to return to where it all began, with a season built around the theme of connection,” according to the Chamber.

Appalachian Connections season opener is Sunday, Oct. 11 at 3 p.m.

“From the misty ridgelines of Appalachia to the fiery rhythms of Mexico, the concert traces the threads that connect us, featuring mandolin virtuoso Jeff Midkiff in a genre-bending showcase of bluegrass grit and orchestral color under the baton of Maestro Dan Allcott,” according to the release.

The public is invited to attend.
