COOKEVILLE – Bojangles’, the fast-food chain known for its Southern-style chicken and biscuits, has selected a location for its long-awaited Cookeville restaurant – and construction on that facility is currently underway.
According to a permit recently filed with the city, the eatery will build a 3,800-square-foot facility at 1033 S. Willow Ave., across from Wholesale Furniture and north of the Interstate 40 exchange. Knoxville’s Richardson Turner Construction was selected as the contractor and site prep work has begun. According to the permit, the project has an estimated cost of $373,184. No other details, including projected opening date, were released.
The Cookeville location is years in the making. Bojangles’ officials first announced plans to expand into Upper Cumberland in early 2010, saying they’d invest $6 million into the local economy and create more than 180 new jobs. Those plans included the addition of two to three restaurants in the region, including Putnam County. There is Bojangles’ at 2801 N. Main St. in Crossville. Bojangles’ is also building in Sparta at 681 Roosevelt Drive.
First franchised in 1978, Bojangles’ boasts more than 625 locations in 10 states, primarily in the Southeast.
