COOKEVILLE — Averitt Express recently announced two promotions as part of its Cookeville and company-wide operations. Cookeville resident Pete Ziegler has been promoted from Cookeville service center director to a new role as director of Final Mile Services, while Livingston resident Sammy Talent has been promoted to fill Ziegler’s former role.
“These are great moves for our Cookeville team, and for our operations in the state of Tennessee and throughout our network,” said Barry Blakely, Averitt’s vice president of operations. “We’re extremely excited to promote Pete and Sammy to their new positions, and we look forward to continuing to build a bright future together.”
Ziegler joined the Averitt team in 2000 as a Truckload fleet manager before moving to Tampa, Fla., where he served as a frontline leader, transportation sales specialist and operations manager. He returned to Cookeville in 2006, serving as service center director until recently accepting his new role.
“Pete personifies many aspects of our culture, and we’re confident he will continue to do so moving forward,” Blakely said. “Under Pete’s guidance, we’re excited about the growth of our Final Mile Services and what it means to our team’s future.”
Talent, meanwhile, brings a wealth of experience to his new position, having been with Averitt since 1990. He began as a part-time dock associate and worked on the dock for 12 years before being promoted to frontline leader.
“During that time, Sammy has gained valuable experience that will serve him well in his new role,” Blakely said.
