Renovation will look to add patient beds to increase CRMC’s capacity

Cookeville – The Cookeville Regional Medical Center (CRMC) board of trustees recently approved renovation on two floors of the facility. Both 4 West and 5 West will see significant changes.

“The local economic impact of this project is estimated between $8 million and $10 million,” according to a release by CRMC, “with at least 50% of subcontractors being local companies.”

The renovation will look to add patient beds to increase CRMC’s capacity. 5 West expansion will include a hemodialysis suite. Hemodialysis is the process of filtering wastes, salts and fluid from your blood when your kidneys are no longer healthy enough to do so. It is a process that can help treat advanced Kidney Failure and can help patients carry on an active life despite failing kidneys.

Construction begins on 5 West this summer. Once expansion on that floor concludes work will begin on renovating and updating patients’ rooms on 4 West.

The entire project is expected to take 23 months to complete.
