CRMC: ER use discouraged for routine testing

COOKEVILLE – Cookeville Regional Medical Center (CRMC) is experiencing rising COVID-19 hospitalizations and increasingly crowded conditions and is asking the public to stop using emergency rooms for routine tests.

A statement issued by the hospital asked individuals to visit other COVID-19 testing sites, such as local drug stores and clinics, and to reserve the emergency room for individuals with emergency situations.

COVID-19 PCR testing is available at the fairgrounds every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8-10 a.m. Self-test kits are distributed every Tuesday and Thursday from 8-10 a.m. at the fairgrounds as well.

As of Friday morning, there were 50 patients hospitalized at CRMC with COVID-19. Seventeen were vaccinated, while 33 were unvaccinated.
