CRMC grateful for community face mask donations

COOKEVILLE – As Cookeville Regional began scheduling elective procedures and reopening outpatient services in late April, the medical center required patients to have a mask when entering the facility. This request from CRMC was the result of recommendations set forth by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in advising individuals to wear a face mask anytime they are out in the public.

CRMC used around 1,100 masks in a week and half, so a campaign on social media began to ask the community to help the medical center in making hand-sewn face masks to provide one to those who forgot their masks or did not have one. The community has donated 1,610 face masks as of June 3.

“What an amazing partnership with our community,” said Paul Korth, CRMC CEO. “Individuals as well as businesses and different organizations donated masks over the past few weeks, and we are very grateful here at the medical center.”

Donations continue to be taken as the medical center climbs closer to their 3,000 face mask donation goal. Donations bins are located at the Main North Tower Entrance and the East Entrance at CRMC for the community to drop off masks. To learn how to make face masks, go to www.crmchealth.org/coronavirus, and there is a tab on how to donate and make hand-sewn masks.

“Thank you again, to our community. Together we are better,” said Korth.
