Bacchanal set for another big event

COOKEVILLE –Tennessee Tech’s School of Art, Craft and Design presents Bacchanal 2018, a scholarship fundraiser, October 21, 1-5 p.m., hosted at Spankies Restaurant in Cookeville.

This annual event features an exciting live auction of artist-donated art and fine craft, an extensive selection of wine and beer, delicious hors d’oeuvres, and live local music. Bacchanal is an opportunity to support talented emerging artists in the Upper Cumberland region.

“The community’s support for the School of Art, Craft and Design’s students continues to warm our hearts,” said Kimberly Winkle, Director of the School of Art, Craft and Design, which is part of the new College of Fine Arts at Tennessee Tech University. “Bacchanal supporters allow us to award multiple scholarships within our department each year. We are truly appreciative of the wonderful in-kind sponsorships, contributions from local businesses, individuals and artists, event volunteers and attendees.”

Proceeds from Bacchanal provide financial scholarships to deserving bachelor of fine arts students from Tennessee Tech University’s School of Art, Craft and Design.

“A Bacchanal scholarship has allowed me to focus on creating art,” said Matthew Vick, woodworking major and recent scholarship winner. “I can purchase tools and supplies, opening up more design possibilities in my work. This is a wonderful scholarship and I am very thankful to all who made it possible.”

To date, Bacchanal scholarships have made a difference in the academic careers of over 100 students. Many of these artists settle in the region and continue to enrich the community with their talent, artwork and energy.

Reservations are $50 in advance; $60 at the door. Online registration is available at tntech.edu/bacchanal.  For additional information, contact Gail Gentry at ggentry@tntech.eduor call 931-372-6883.
