Volunteers needed for upcoming RAM Clinic

COOKEVILLE The Putnam County Remote Area Medical Clinic (RAM) needs volunteers.

Officials need up to 30 additional dental professionals and up to 15 additional optometry professionals to volunteer for the RAM Clinic, scheduled for March 18-19 at Cookeville High School, 2335 N. Washington Ave. Those interested in volunteering should visit www.ramusa.org/volunteer.

RAM is a free mobile medical clinic. Previous events have included services like dental cleanings, dental fillings, dental extractions, eye exams, eyeglass prescriptions, eyeglass production, women’s health exams and medical exams. All services are delivered on a first-come, first-served basis. More details for the March event will follow, but the clinic opens at 6 a.m. Saturday, March 18, and ends at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 19.

Last year, thanks to 407 volunteers, RAM treated 878 patients in Cookeville. In 2016, more than 7,000 Tennesseans received $2.4 million in free medical aid through the organization.
