KNOXVILLE – As part of their 2022 PTAC Day Celebration, on Wednesday, Sept. 21, the University of Tennessee Institute for Public Service and the Tennessee Procurement Technical Assistance Center will host a day of free virtual training on government contracting.

The online meeting will begin at 9 a.m. CDT with a welcome session, followed by sessions on proposal writing, marketing for government contracting and afternoon breakout sessions on doing business in Tennessee, wrapping up at 2:40 p.m.

Proposal Writing 101: Annually the Federal, State, and Local governments in the U.S. award nearly $5.5 Trillion in contracts and subcontracts via the proposal process. This session will help you:

  • Gain an understanding of the overall proposal process and best practices
  • Learn to develop compliance matrices, outlines, and other tools
  • Discover techniques to differentiate your proposals from your competition
  • Have your proposal questions answered

Marketing for Government Contracting: Marketing is one of the most critical components of being successful in Government Contracting, however it isn’t the same as the marketing you may have done in the corporate world. Come learn the major tools used to market to the government, and how best to use them.

Doing business in Tennessee: There will be three concurrent breakout sessions – one for each area (West, Middle, East) of TN. This will be an open session with the PTAC Counselor and some procurement officers from that area. Join this to learn more about doing business in TN.

The event is free, but registration is required, and space is limited. Registration and additional information are available here.
