COOKEVILLE – Cook Out, a national burger and barbecue restaurant chain founded in North Carolina, looks to be adding its first Upper Cumberland location.
While a building permit has not yet been issued for the project, City of Cookeville officials say one has been paid for. Codes director Jeff Littrell said the eatery is looking to locate on South Jefferson Avenue in front of Nick’s Restaurant.
Cook Out is a drive-through style restaurant offering char-grilled burgers, bacon cheddar hot dogs, chicken, BBQ, chicken wraps, homemade milk shakes and desserts. The closest Cook Outs to Cookeville are in Murfreesboro and Knoxville, and the private, family-owned chain has six total Tennessee sites, according to unofficial websites promoting the company. Another Cook Out is slated for Nashville’s West End.
