Cookeville Regional’s robotic program offers seven types of surgeries

Cookeville Regional Medical Center (CRMC) will host an open house for the public to come in and see the da Vinci robot in person, meet the robotic surgeons at Cookeville Regional, and enjoy light refreshments Tuesday, Sept. 17, from 1 to 3 p.m. the main North tower lobby at Cookeville Regional.

“This is an exciting day for us as robotic surgeons to meet the community and show them the capabilities and benefits of robotic surgery,” said Dr. Bert Geer, urogynecologist and chair of the robotics committee at Cookeville Regional. “We have an incredible robotic surgery team at Cookeville Regional. We are very close to hitting our 6,000th robotic surgery case. This is a big deal for our community as they can trust that we, as surgeons and a medical center, maintain consistent case volume, patient satisfaction, and quality care within our robotics program. We invite anyone in the Upper Cumberland region interested in learning more or seeing the da Vinci robot in person to join us on September 17.”

Cookeville Regional’s robotic program offers seven types of surgeries: Thoracic, E-N-T (head and neck), Gynecology, Urogynecology, General Surgery, Urology, and Bariatric (weight loss surgery).

“Cookeville Regional looks forward to seeing our community back inside the hospital for learning and exploring healthcare. The technology within health care is amazing and to see the da Vinci robot in person, plus meet the surgeons who operate on it, will be a wonderful experience. We hope to see the people of our region September 17 at Cookeville Regional,” said Buffy Key, CEO at CRMC.

The open house is a come-and-go event in the medical center’s main lobby. Guests will enter through the main North Tower entrance, check in and enjoy the event.
