Fast-food restaurant originated in Corpus Christi Texas

According to reports, Whataburger (what this writer believes to be the greatest burger joint in the history of western civilization) is opening a location in Crossville across from Buc-ee’s. This news is on the heels of Whataburger’s recent announcement that Debbie Stroud was the company’s new President and CEO.

“After joining the team as chief operating officer in Feb. 2023, she is now leading Whataburger into an exciting future,” said Whataburger in a release.

The fast-food restaurant, which originated in Corpus Christi Texas, but is headquartered in San Antonio, will celebrate its 75th anniversary in August. In 1950, Harmon Dobson flipped the first five-inch Whataburger. Since then the restaurant has achieved systemwide revenue of more than $ 4 billion annually across 1,090 locations in 16 states, including:

  • Alabama
  • Arizona
  • Arkansas
  • Colorado
  • Florida
  • Georgia
  • Kansas
  • Louisiana
  • Mississippi
  • Missouri
  • Nevada
  • New Mexico
  • Oklahoma
  • South Carolina
  • Tennessee
  • and Texas

“Even with our exceptional menu, we know that people make the difference at Whataburger,” according to the release.

The Crossville location will be the only of its kind in the Upper Cumberland. Dr. Pepper Shakes may soon be within a short drive and that, my loyal readers, is great news.

“We love keeping things fresh at Whataburger, but sometimes the best way to celebrate is by serving up the classics,” said Stroud.

No official opening date has been announced. Check back for updates.
