Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said it investigated allegations at request of District Attorney
(UCBJ) – According to WSMV, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has said it has begun investigating allegations of theft against Putnam County attorney James Hargis “at the request of 13th Judicial District Attorney General Bryant Dunaway.”
From WSMV:
“During the course of the investigation, agents learned Hargis, acting as a licensed attorney, withheld funds from an individual during a real estate transaction,” the TBI said.
Hargis was charged with one count of theft over $60,000, arrested by the Putnam County Sheriff’s Department and booked into the Putnam County Jail on a $100,000 bond.
