Officials say the work to be done will not be a patchwork fix but a long-term solutions

According to a report by WJLE.com, Lee Company will soon get to work on the heating and cooling system at the DeKalb County Courthouse.

Lee Company was the only bid submitted.

From WJLE:

During Wednesday’s meeting, the purchasing committee of the county commission awarded a bid to Lee Company for $581,671 to upgrade the courthouse HVAC system and officials say the work to be done will not be a patchwork fix but a long-term solution to a long-standing problem. A total of $600,000 was budgeted in the capital projects fund of the 2025-26 budget for this purpose.

Lee Company will work on:

  • Pneumatic HVAC controls
  • changing radiator units in offices and a new internal system for the courtrooms
  • Specifically, the air handler
  • integrated thermostats
  • control valves
  • auto flow balance valves

“We have to check on lead times for the equipment. That is the biggest thing,” said a Lee representative, according to WJLE. “We will probably need to have another discussion to talk about scheduling to work the installation in around court dates. We will have to plan those times. This is a LIVE building, and we can’t just shut down a floor so we will have to work around certain things, especially on the second and third floors.”

No installation date has been announced.
