November permits up from this time last year
November was a steady month for construction in Putnam County, according to Putnam County Mayor Randy Porter.
“November had 30 permits for $5.6 millions of construction, with 20 of those being for new single-family residential homes,” according to Porter.
In comparison, Nov. 2023 had 23 permits for $4.5 million with 21 of those being new single-family homes.
“On an annual basis, we have already passed the dollar amount of construction from last year with $83.1 million compared to $82.2 million in 2023,” said Porter.
Nationally, building permits for privately–owned housing units sat at 1,416,000 in October, 6% below the September rate. According to the National Demolition Association, U.S. Commerce Department data from November shows U.S Construction landed at $1.459 trillion. That is the highest level since the government started tracking.
According to the demolitionassociation.com:
The number was lifted by residential construction spending that soared on a 5.1% leap in single-family housing construction, as nonresidential construction spending fell 0.6%.
November permits generated $23,618 in fees which operates the Building Codes Department in Putnam County.
“These are numbers for Putnam County and do not include any of the four cities,” said Porter.
