State officials were on hand for the celebration

Centrus Energy Corp is “significantly” expanding its Centrifuge manufacturing plant in Oak Ridge.

“Today in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, celebrated a major milestone for the state’s nuclear industry,” according to a release from the state of Tennessee.

State officials, including Deputy Governor/TNECD Commissioner Stuart C. McWhorter, Governor Bill Lee and U.S. Sen. Marsha Blackburn were on hand for the celebration at the company’s Anderson County facility

The project represents more than $560 million in new investment and will create nearly 430 new jobs in Anderson County.

“… Supporting workforce growth and the production of thousands of advanced centrifuges to meet commercial and national security needs,” according to the release.
