CUMBERLAND COUNTY – The Cumberland County Obed River Park is one of 260 grantees, nationwide, out of more than 3,200 applicants, to be chosen for a 2022 Community Challenge Grant from AARP.

This generous grant from AARP was for $9,850 and will be used to transform one of the Obed River Park’s picnic shelters into an outdoor classroom.  The classroom will include seating, whiteboards, flooring, and planter boxes.

Beth Wyatt-Davis, Office Manager of the Cumberland County Mayor’s Office stated, “We are honored to be chosen as one of AARP’s grantees this year. Our hope is this outdoor classroom will be used by residents, groups and non-profits to encourage engagement, educational opportunities, and social interaction of our community.”
