The company will create 200 new jobs

Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee, Department of Economic and Community Development Commissioner Stuart C. McWhorter and Nidec officials announced today the company is expanding its manufacturing operations in Henderson County.

Nidec Power, a division of Nidec Motor Corporation, designs and manufactures advanced alternators used in critical power generation applications such as data centers, hospitals, defense and more.

“What happens in rural Tennessee matters to all Tennesseans, and I am proud to take part in announcing hundreds of new jobs for the families across Henderson County. Nidec’s investment will be transformative for this community, and I am grateful to the company’s leadership and long-term dedication to creating greater opportunity for Tennesseans,” said Gov. Bill Lee.

The company will invest $52.4 million to expand operations at its existing Lexington, Tennessee, facility, creating 200 new jobs and enhancing production efficiency and capacities to support the increasing electricity demand in the U.S. and abroad. Upon completion of the project, Nidec Power will employ over 600 Tennesseans across Henderson County.

Established in 1973, Nidec has grown from a four-person operation to a global company with facilities on five continents and a headquarters in Kyoto, Japan.

Japan is Tennessee’s top partner for foreign direct investment (FDI) with more than 200 Japanese companies across the state that account for more than 57,000 jobs and $20 billion in capital investment.
