No grand opening date for HCC has been announced

Hub City Carts (HCC), a golf cart dealership serving Cookeville, Livingston, Gainesboro, Sparta and Monterey, is preparing to set up shop at 1805 Burgess Falls Road.

As the UCBJ recently reported, the location, which was once slated for a Cedar Recovery Methadone clinic, has a new tenant. When the announcement was first made about the clinic moving to the county, the adjoining space was occupied by 931 Elite, a youth sports training facility.

That space is now Pioneer Heating and Cooling (PHC).

CR eyed the space after trying a move to the county following multiple failed attempts to set up shop in both Overton County and the city of Cookeville. Many Putnam County officials and citizens opposed the move after the Tennessee Health Facilities Board (THFB) voted 6-2 in 2024 to allow the clinic to proceed.

Following the August meeting with THFB, the County immediately announced a lawsuit to fight the result. The petition, which Porter says was filed to “review the proceedings of the Board in the hopes that this decision might be reversed” states the location is not beneficial to CR’s customer base, and that the Upper Cumberland doesn’t have a big enough need and that Cedar Recovery has not shown enough success in stopping addiction through the distribution of Methadone. Need, quality and consumer or patient advantage are the criteria the commission had to consider, according to state statute.

That fight is still ongoing. More information on that as it becomes available.

HCC will be open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. For more information on HCC, call 931-783-1867.
