New CFO appointed at Highlands Medical Center

SPARTA – Jennifer Weldon has been named chief financial officer for Highlands Medical Center (HMC) in Sparta, effective July 1, according to Bill Little, chief executive officer. With 10 years of hospital accounting experience, including seven in management, she brings a proven track record to her new position.

“Jennifer will be a great addition to our team,” Little said. “Highlands Medical Center has experienced significant growth and has just finished our largest renovation project in years. Jennifer’s experience and her community-focused style will be a great asset for our hospital and the community.”

Weldon joined Capella Healthcare, with which HMC is affiliated, in 2007 as controller at Capital Medical Center, a 110-bed hospital in Olympia, WA. She was promoted to assistant CFO at EASTAR Health System, a 275-bed two-campus hospital in Muskogee, OK, where she also served as interim CFO. She began her career in Louisiana, serving as staff accountant at Minden Medical Center in Minden and then as controller for River Parishes Hospital in LaPlace.

She earned her bachelor’s degree in business administration with an emphasis in accounting from Southern Arkansas University. Weldon is in the process of completing her MBA at Washington State University, with plans to graduate in October.

She will be relocating to Tennessee with her husband Derek and their 2-year-old son Callum.
