COOKEVILLE – The Small Business Development Center (SBDC), UCDD, The Biz Foundry, WCTE and Tennessee Tech’s Center for Rural Innovation (TCRI) have joined forces to form the Local Business Resource Collective (LBRC). The LBRC will be doing weekly ZOOM calls with subject matter experts beginning June 11 at 1 p.m.
The June 11 call will feature Kent Moore discussing the legal side of starting and running a business. After a short presentation, local business can call in and ask questions.
“We’re going to bring in a subject matter expert for a small portion of the time and allow Q&A,” said Tyler Asher, director of the Small Business Development Center. “The ultimate goal is to bring a melting pot of ideas so that everyone can benefit.”
The calls will be very interactive. Afterwards, if a company needs more in-depth help, the SBDC can work with them independently.
“Why this partnership works so great is because we all work very well together,” said Asher. “So, when someone says they are struggling, we say ok, how can we help?”
“We’re trying to create a one-stop shop where people can get the technical support or access to capital or whatever their needs may be, and that’s why the partnerships are very important,” explained Megan Choate, UCDD Director of Lending & Economic Development. “If Tyler and SBDC can’t help them, perhaps the loan fund can, perhaps The Biz Foundry can, perhaps TCRI can or WCTE.”
Other topics that will be covered include accounting; human resources issues, including telecommuting and COVID-19 related issues; social media training, women in business and a variety of other topics for business.
