Christmas ornament program going strong

Cookeville – The board of directors of CityScape has named Cookeville native Lorie Krauss as its next Executive Director effective Nov. 21.

Krauss comes to CityScape following a 25-year career in providing services for children in foster care. During that time, Krauss developed many strong relationships throughout the Upper Cumberland and Tennessee as a whole. Most recently, she served the FOCUS program at the Harmony Family Center for the past nine years.

“I am honored to be able to continue my service in this community through the CityScape position,” said Krauss. “My family has deep roots in our community, and I have spent most of my career working in the region through state grants and contracts. Many of those relationships will be strong assets in my new position.”

CityScape is a non-profit organization with the mission of preserving and enhancing the historic downtown areas of Cookeville, including the Courthouse Square and the WestSide district.

“We are excited to have Lorie lead our organization as Executive Director,” said CityScape Board Chair Tiffany Davidson. “She joins us with fresh enthusiasm and a love of her community. I couldn’t be happier about the direction we are headed at CityScape and to have Lorie lead the way.”

Krauss replaces Holly Freeman, who stepped down as CityScape director in September to return to her roots in Nashville’s music and entertainment industry. Freeman served in the director’s role since 2019.

Krauss was born and raised in Cookeville and graduated from Tennessee Tech University. She and her husband, George, have two children: Landon, 16, and Lola, 10.

“I’m already looking forward to future projects and events,” emphasized Krauss. “I can’t wait to get started and to meet those of you I don’t already know.”

CityScape’s ever-popular Christmas ornament program is still going strong through the transition. Certain past designs are still available and two new designs were introduced last weekend at Mistletoe Market. Those new designs are Bobby Q’s restaurant and the Putnam County Fair.
