3 charming small towns filled with the spirit of Christmas

Upper Cumberland – The Upper Cumberland of TN welcomes travelers and local communities to join them for a festive holiday season because, “it will be filled with the spirit of the season and the joy of a Hallmark Christmas.”

The 3 featured towns of 2022 are as follows: 

Livingston: Overton County is celebrating “Christmas in the Country”, which will take place in their charming Downtown Livingston Square. The events will be on Friday, Dec. 2nd and Dec. 9th from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. The event has become a favorite tradition among those in the Upper Cumberland.

The evening activities on each scheduled date will include tree lighting, music, carolers, shopping with local merchants on the square, giveaways, pictures with Santa, refreshments, carriage rides, a live nativity scene, and time with friends, family and neighbors. Be sure to keep an eye out for the crazy Grinch that roams into town from time to time.

Granville: One step into downtown Granville and you’ll be certain that you’ve walked onto the set of a Hallmark movie, but all is real, and the hospitality is warm and genuine. Known as Tennessee’s Mayberry, you’ll find Christmas decor on every corner as you make your way to the Andy Griffith and I Love Lucy Museum.

The T.B. Sutton General Store is listed on the National Historic Registry. Taking time to have lunch there will give the opportunity to browse the new quilt shop and join in on the Saturday bluegrass hour. You can take a tour of the Sutton home place to experience a Victorian Christmas and to learn about the history of the town. You’ll want to give yourself plenty of time to explore Historic Granville TN, the town is small, but it’s packed with museums, shops and the beauty of yesteryear. On December 10th the town will hold their Country Christmas Celebration. All ages will enjoy this little piece of life in Tennessee.

Smithville: Smithville, TN will hold their annual Christmas on the Square and Parade on Saturday, December 3. The parade will begin at 4 p.m. At 5:30 p.m. locals and guests can enjoy free refreshments at the Courthouse and Smithville City Hall Open House. Downtown Smithville that evening will also include the following: live Christmas windows at downtown businesses, free photo booth, extended shopping hours, free soup at Refuge Church and Evins Park will be shining bright thanks to Smithville Electric.

Santa pics will be available at the Justin Potter Library from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., and free pet photos with Santa will be on the north side of the square. Bring your family, friends and camera so that you can capture all of the wonderful Christmas memories that you’ll make in Smithville, TN.
