Fast food giant operates over 19,000 locations

Smithville Mayor Josh Miller recently took to Facebook to make an announcement.

Fast Food titan Burger King (BK) was almost inevitable in Smithville, and locals are ready to have it their way.

“Site plans have been approved,” announced Miller while posting the BK logo. “I’m not sure when construction will begin, but, hopefully, it’s a done deal!”

This on the heels of BK celebrating its 70th “birthday” in 2024. The home of the flame-broiled Whopper (just the words make you hungry, don’t they) vowed to remodel and innovate its restaurants. Franchisees, like the Smithville location, have been a part of BK’s business model since its inception.

Can I take your order – Burger operates in over 100 countries.

“Since 1954, Burger King has prided itself on two things – flame-grilling and letting Guests ‘Have It Your Way’. And, while a lot has changed over the last 70 years, we’ve always remained committed to our Guests, including the past few years as we have been reclaiming our flame with initiatives such as remodeling and modernizing our restaurants, investing in state-of-the-art technology, menu innovations and more,” said Pat O’Toole, Chief Marketing Officer, Burger King North America.

BK operates over 19,000 locations, operated 100% by franchisees, in more than 100 countries and U.S. territories. Many franchises are family-owned and have been in business for decades, according to the company.

“… We are proud of the legacy this brand has built and on which we stand and are beyond grateful for our royal Guests who have made it all possible,” according to BK.
