COVID-19: Ficosa North America announces employee furloughs

Detroit-based automotive component manufacturer will continue to contribute to worker life and disability insurance

MADISON HEIGHTS, Mich. – Ficosa North America has announced that some employees at the company’s facilities in Shelbyville, Ky., and Cookeville have been placed on temporary furlough.

Detroit-based Ficosa North America currently operates production facilities in Shelbyville and Cookeville, where the company manufactures exterior vehicle mirrors, shift-by-wire modules, automotive vision systems and driver awareness technology for OEM customers.

“We understand the impact this has on the lives of all of our Ficosa NA team members,” said Fred Zicard, vice president of Ficosa North America. “This is not a step we take lightly. No one could have anticipated the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on our economy.

“Our customers have been temporarily shutting down their production lines, severely reducing demand for the components we manufacture. We value all of our employees and will resume operations as soon as possible.”

Furloughed employees are eligible for unemployment benefits and COBRA until they return to work. Ficosa will continue to contribute to employee life and disability insurance coverage during the furlough.

Ficosa NA is a global leader in the production of exterior vehicle mirrors, shift by wire modules, automotive vision systems, and driver awareness technology.
