Event will be free to all
Tis the season, and it’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas.
After the turkey has his day, Cookeville has announced it will be holding its first annual Christmas on the Square event, Saturday, Nov. 30 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. in downtown Cookeville.
“This magical event is teaming up with “Shop Small Saturday” to create a new holiday tradition in Putnam County bringing together residents and visitors alike to celebrate the spirit of the season,” according to a release by Putnam County Mayor Randy Porter.
Free for all – First annual Christmas on the Square event.
Event Highlights will include:
- Polar Express Train Rides down Broad Street
- Bounce Houses and games
- Ornament-making stations
- Free Wooden Ornament to first 250 children
- Face painting
- Hot Cocoa, Kettle Corn, Cookies and Cozy Snacks
- Photos with Santa printed on-site
- Family Photo stations
- Carolers and story time with Mrs. Claus
- Shop Small Saturday and much, much more!

“The evening finale will be a grand tree lighting ceremony on the courthouse lawn at 5 p.m. We will illuminate the square with thousands of twinkling lights and decorations, marking the official start of the Christmas season,” according to Porter.
The event will be free to all and is sponsored by Cookeville-Putnam County Visitor’s Bureau, Cookeville CityScape and Putnam County.
“Make plans to join us on the Saturday after Thanksgiving for an afternoon of family fun,” said Porter.
