Backpack Heroes campaign provides backpacks, school supplies and other essentials
Sometimes, families need help getting back to school. Supplies are often a cost burden. That is where Youth Village‘s Backpack Heroes’ program (set for July 8) is trying to make a difference. The program, with offices in Nashville, Clarksville, Dickson, Columbia and Cookeville, serves more than 1700 families across Middle Tennessee.
“Purchasing essential back-to-school supplies is a heavy financial burden for many families and young people throughout Middle Tennessee,” according to a release by Youth Villages. “The Youth Villages Backpack Heroes campaign provides backpacks, school supplies and other essentials to more than 1,700 young people from pre-K through higher education who are in foster care or have a history of emotional/behavioral challenges.”
Serving families:
- with involvement in the child welfare system
- children in foster care and living in group home settings
- young adults who aged out of foster care, among others
