(UCBJ) – Averitt, one of the Upper Cumberland’s largest employers and a leading transportation and supply chain management provider, has announced plans to build a new regional campus in Charlotte, marking one of the largest facility investments in the company’s history.
The expansion will allow the Cookeville-based company to more than double its Charlotte-area workforce, adding 211 associates over the next four years. Located near Charlotte Douglas International Airport on just over 100 acres, the new development will consolidate Averitt’s entire regional operation into a single, integrated campus. The site will bring together all five of the company’s service units – less – than-truckload (LTL), truckload, dedicated, distribution and fulfillment, and integrated services – into one centralized location. The campus will include:
- A two-story, 16,000-square-foot regional office with dedicated training and
- collaboration space
- A 75,000-square-foot, 150-door cross-dock, expandable to 200 doors
- Two warehouses totaling more than 500,000 square feet of distribution and fulfillment space
- Parking for more than 400 trailers, along with fleet maintenance, fueling, and driver support facilities designed to enhance the day-to-day experience for drivers
Averitt expansion
Construction is expected to begin immediately, with completion targeted for 2028.
The new facility will replace Averitt’s existing 40,000-square-foot service center in Charlotte, which currently employs 182 full-time associates.
