Stores like the proposed Monterey brick-and-mortar are necessary to meet the company’s demand

O’Reilly Auto Parts is planning to start construction “sometime this year,” according to Rafferty Cleary, the  Cultural administrator at the Town of Monterey, TN, and member of the Monterey Planning Commission (MPC). The proposed location for the store is next to the Sav-A-Lot located at 201 Elmore Street in the city, following the recent approval of site plans by the MPC.

An email sent to the commission cited ample parking and access to main roads as location drivers, according to reports. O’Reilly Auto Parts has 209 stores in Tennessee, including nine in the Upper Cumberland.

The O’Reilly team is planning for further expansion into 2025.

“… What we know for certain is that our Team remains absolutely dedicated to providing the highest levels of customer service and best-in-class parts availability, regardless of external market conditions. We also continue to be optimistic about our growth opportunities and are pressing forward with our store and distribution expansion plans, with 38 net new store openings in the first quarter. Our unrelenting daily commitment to excellent customer service is the key to our past and future success, and we believe it will fuel the growth we have planned for 2025,” according to O’Reilly CEO Brad Beckham.

The company’s continued expansion comes off a quarter that saw comparable sales growth to 2024, while gains of $755 Million worth of net cash.

“We are pleased to report a solid start to 2025, highlighted by a 3.6% comparable store sales increase, which was at the high end of our expectations for the quarter. Our comparable store sales increase was comprised of solid growth in both professional and DIY, which grew mid-single digit and low-single-digit, respectively, in the first quarter,” according to, O’Reilly’s CEO.

Stores like the proposed Monterey brick-and-mortar are necessary to meet the company’s demand, according to Becham.
