The American Job Center (AJC) is thrilled to continue its relationship with the Cookeville Rescue Mission.
AJC recently launched its 10-week Job Readiness Program at the Cookeville Rescue Mission to support the men’s program. The program provides “valuable career skills and employment readiness tools.” The program, developed by AJC Career Specialist Brad Little, “aims to equip participants with the necessary skills to secure and succeed in the workforce.”
“The Job Readiness Program covers essential employment topics such as job search strategies, resume building and soft skills development. Luke Eldridge, Director of Title 1 Services at the American Job Center, worked closely with the Cookeville Rescue Mission leadership to establish an effective timeline and ensure the program met the needs of participants.”

“Helping individuals prepare for the workforce is at the heart of our mission,” said Luke Eldridge. “The Job Readiness Program offers the tools, resources, and confidence participants need to pursue long-term career success. It’s been a rewarding experience partnering with the Cookeville Rescue Mission to make this program a reality for those who are ready to take the next step in their lives.”
The program includes:
- modules on basic computer skills
- how to use the Jobs4TN website to browse local job openings
- resume writing workshops
“Participants also learn crucial soft skills such as communication, time management, professionalism and job etiquette. Towards the end of the program, participants engage in mock interviews through the “Interview Prep” and “Dress for Success” workshops, helping them refine their job-searching skills,” according to the release.
At the end of the program a graduation ceremony will be held, and “one-on-one” support will continue after graduation.
“We’re thrilled to continue our partnership with the Cookeville Rescue Mission and look forward to extending the Job Readiness Program to their women’s program in the near future,” added Eldridge. “This collaboration is just the beginning, and we’re excited to continue offering career services and employment opportunities to those in need.”
