Expansion Marks Prysmian’s Second Investment In Jackson Since 2018
(UCBJ) – Prysmian, one of the world’s largest cable and fiber manufacturers, is expanding its operations in Jackson, TN, according to the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development. The company will invest $100 million and create 100 new jobs.
The project will renovate and double the size of Prysmian’s existing facility in Madison County.
“Global companies like Prysmian continue to choose Tennessee because of our strong business climate and highly skilled workforce,” Gov. Bill Lee said. “Today’s announcement means 100 new job opportunities for Tennesseans in Madison County, and I’m grateful for Prysmian’s continued investment in our state and the lasting impact it will have on this community.”
The company plans to hold a groundbreaking ceremony Oct. 15, with construction expected to be completed in approximately 20 months.
The expansion marks Prysmian’s second investment in Jackson since the company acquired General Cable in 2018.
“This investment demonstrates our commitment to supporting the growth of the U.S. demand for advanced digital solutions,” said Andrea Pirondini, CEO of Prysmian North America. “We are one of just three U.S. manufacturers of fiber and optical cables, and now, we are committing more than a billion dollars across the U.S. to new innovative solutions and transformational capacity growth.”
Prysmian operates on six continents and in more than 50 countries, with 109 manufacturing plants, 30 research and development centers and more than 34,000 employees worldwide.
The company has more than 50 locations and 9,000 associates in North America.
