TN Code Academy hosting GIS and drone camp starting Nov. 17

COOKEVILLE – The Tennessee Code Academy will host an afterschool camp in Cookeville next week focusing on GIS and drones. The event begins on Monday, Nov. 17, and will last throughout the week, 4-6 p.m. daily. 

The participants will experience hands-on mapping as well as use the latest technology in mapping software. The workshop will cover how to use GPS, drones, map-making, map reading and more. Each participant also has the option to receive a Proto-X miniature quad-copter drone.

Next week’s camp is being help in conjunction with GIS day, which is Nov. 19. Events will take place all across the world to celebrate the annual salute to geospatial technology and its power to transform and better our lives. 

The workshop will take place at The Biz Foundry, 140 W. Seventh St., Cookeville. Cost is $75 for the week or $99 to include the mini-drone Students may register at www.tncodeacademy.com/gis-workshop.html.
