Saint Thomas Highlands names new CAO

SPARTA – Saint Thomas Health is excited to announce Richard Tumlin has  been named chief administrative officer of Saint Thomas Highlands Hospital in Sparta, Tenn., effective immediately. Saint Thomas Health is part of Ascension, the nation’s largest Catholic and non-profit health system.

Tumlin was named interim chief administrative officer of Saint Thomas Highlands Hospital in April 2017, and he recently agreed to serve in this role on a permanent basis.

“Richard has done an excellent job in this role as he has learned about the opportunities for Saint Thomas Highlands Hospital,” said Gordon Ferguson, President and CEO of Saint Thomas Rutherford Hospital and President of Saint Thomas Health regional hospitals. “I look forward to his continued leadership and contributions to our health system.”

Before joining Saint Thomas Health, Tumlin was most recently the chief operating officer at Southern Hills Hospital in Nashville where he worked since 2011. Tumlin graduated from both the University of Georgia and Georgia State University.

Saint Thomas Highlands Hospital is a 60-bed facility accredited by The Joint Commission, and certified by the American Heart Association as a “Get with the Guidelines” hospital. The facility offers a full range of medical services, including 24-hour Emergency Care, Intensive Care, Medical/Surgical care, General Surgery, Orthopedics, Gastroenterology, Pulmonology, GYN, and a Geriatric Psych Unit. Diagnostic Imaging services include X-ray, CT, Ultrasound and Nuclear Medicine. Rehabilitation services include Physical and Occupational Therapy and Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehab.
