‘Restaurant Week’ returns March 5

COOKEVILLE Restaurant Week is back.

This year, 17 local eateries will offer special menus, along with their normal selections, throughout the week of March 5-11 in a fundraising effort for the Cookeville Regional Charitable Foundation.

It’s the third year for the event. Restaurant Week is sponsored by IWC.

“This is a great opportunity to enjoy something new at some of the best local restaurants in our area, and help out local patients at the same time,” John Bell, Foundation director, said.

Returning participating restaurants include Cookeville’s Backroom Bistro, Char, Crawdaddy’s, El Magueyal, Father Tom’s Pub, Fiesta Cancun Grill, Mamma Rosa’s, Nick’s, Seven Senses, Spankies, The Cooke House, World Foods, and Foglight Foodhouse, located in Walling in White County, and The Bull & Thistle in Gainesboro. New this year are Anchor Down, Blue Rooster Canteen and MealFit.

Menus will include dishes, meals and combinations not featured on the regular restaurant menu.

Examples include:

  • Three soft tacos stuffed with ground wild boar cooked in a tangy raspberry sauce, topped with aged Vermont sharp white cheddar and fresh baby arugula.
  • Cajun blackened salmon served over capellini pasta with a homemade spinach cream sauce, broccoli garnish
  • A 6-ounce BraveHeart filet mignon, smothered in a creamy crab and blue cheese sauce and served with your choice of two sides
